CalcVue ("we," "us," or "our") operates the calcvue.com website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our services.

Information We Collect

CalcVue is designed to work without collecting personal information. We do not require user accounts, sign-ups, or login. Specifically:

  • No personal data collection — We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information through our calculators.
  • localStorage — Calculator preferences and recent results may be stored in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
  • URL parameters — Calculator inputs are encoded in the URL so that results can be shared via links. These parameters are visible in your browser's address bar and are not logged by our servers.

Cookies and Tracking

While CalcVue itself does not set cookies, our third-party services may. The following cookies may be present:

  • Google Analytics (GA4) cookies — Used to understand how visitors interact with our site, including page views, session duration, and traffic sources. These cookies include _ga and _ga_*.
  • Google AdSense / Mediavine cookies — Used to serve relevant advertisements. These may include cookies for ad personalization, frequency capping, and conversion tracking.
  • Cloudflare cookies — Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may set cookies such as __cf_bm for bot detection and security purposes.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Google Analytics — For anonymized website usage analytics. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
  • Google AdSense / Mediavine — For displaying advertisements. These services may use cookies to serve personalized or contextual ads based on your browsing activity.
  • OpenAI — In the future, our AI Insight feature may send anonymized calculation results to OpenAI's API to generate personalized commentary. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.
  • Cloudflare — Our website is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes requests to provide CDN, security, and performance services. Cloudflare's privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right of access — You may request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — You may request that we correct any inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to erasure — You may request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. Since we do not collect personal data through our calculators, this primarily applies to analytics data processed by third parties.
  • Right to opt out of personalized ads — You may opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your ad settings at adssettings.google.com or through your browser's cookie settings.
  • Right to withdraw consent — Where we rely on consent for data processing, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to know — You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
  • Right to delete — You have the right to request deletion of your personal information.
  • Right to opt-out — You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information.

We do not sell personal information. CalcVue does not sell, rent, or trade any personal information to third parties.

Children's Privacy

CalcVue is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Data Retention

  • localStorage data — Stored on your device and automatically expires after 30 days of inactivity, or can be cleared manually through your browser settings at any time.
  • Analytics data — Retained per Google Analytics standard retention period (14 months by default). We do not maintain separate analytics databases.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
